Over the past weekend, the Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health began its participation in the 2022 Generation adidas Cup taking place in Frisco, Texas from April 9 through April 17. The Academy’s U-15 and U-17 teams began by competing in the competition’s Group Play, in which each side played three matches. As the competition’s playoff rounds take place, let’s take a look at their results to date.
U-15
The Academy’s U-15 side won two out of its three matches and topped a difficult group in which it was paired with fellow MLS academy Nashville SC alongside international competition in Brazilian club Flamengo and Mexican club Tigres.
Group Play Results:
- Saturday, April 9: Inter Miami 1-0 Nashville SC
- Sunday, April 10: Tigres 1-2 Inter Miami
- Monday, April 11: Inter Miami 0-0 Flamengo (4-5 in penalties)
The team then faced Tigres once again in the first playoff round of the cup the night of Tuesday, April 12, falling 1-2.
Although the Academy’s U-15 team has been knocked out, the team is set to play two more exhibition matches in Frisco. The date for the Showcase matches will be announced at a later date.
U-17
The Academy’s U-17 side followed suit and also finished as the leader of its group with a dominant level of play, collecting three points in each of its fixtures to be the only MLS academy to finish off Group Play with a perfect record. The U-17s defeated fellow MLS academies Sporting Kansas City and the Portland Timbers and Italian club AS Roma and played exquisite fútbol, including this impressive 15-pass play building up to the Goal of the Day against Roma.

- Tuesday, April 12: Inter Miami 1-0 AS Roma
The Academy’s U-17 team is now set to play its playoff match today at 1 p.m. ET, taking on Atlanta United FC.
