MIAMI (August 17, 2019) — Club Internacional de Fútbol Miami's U17-18 team concluded its participation in the K League U-17 Championship Tournament with a 3-1 win against the home side of Pohang.
The 4-3-3 formation favored by Senior Academy Director Jason Kreis provided solid defensive shape and showcased the attacking prowess of the team. Goalkeeper Ralph Montero started his second game in net behind defenders Fabrizio Cubeddu, Esteban Espinosa, Kai Thomas and Noah Allen. The midfield started with Edison Azcona, Andres Torrealba and Nico Periera. Up top, the trio was led by Andres Cardenas, Nico Diaz and Francisco Raggio who wore the captain’s armband.
Inter Miami CF opened the scoresheet in the 12th minute off a corner kick that was headed into the back of the net by defender Espinosa. The second half saw the Academy team’s second goal when a loose ball at the top of the box was volleyed into the corner by Azcona. In the 74th minute, a third goal was scored by Alexander Lozano who was subbed in shortly before at 52nd minute. The home side pulled one back in the 76th minute, concluding the 3-1 victory which had been one of the strongest performances by the Inter Miami academy side.
Inter Miami CF concluded its participation in the 2019 K League U-17 Championship Tournament finishing second in their group. The side will travel home in the coming days after a valuable opportunity to compete internationally, as they continue to prepare for their upcoming regular season.
