The Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health worked through a busy early December period and returned to training in January, offering players plenty of opportunities to learn and grow. During this period, two particular players stood out, making them our December 2021 / January 2022 Players of the Month.
Starting with our older age groups, U-15 player Santiago Morales was chosen as the Player of the Month.
“Santiago is a talented and competitive young man who puts his team's success ahead of his own. He is a great representation of his teammates; he loves the game and competition, he makes the most of every opportunity he has on the field. Santiago, together with his teammates Justin Ellis and Tyler Austin, just completed and excelled in his first U-15 U.S. youth national team camp. Santiago, like he has done all season, represented himself with professionalism and competed with passion and confidence. We are proud of him and congratulate him on his well-deserved accomplishments,” said Academy coach Victor Pastora.
For our younger age groups, it was U-12 player Kai Nesfield who was given the honor of being chosen as Player of the Month.
“The U-12 group had two events in December to finish out the Fall season - a weekend playing against other top clubs in the state of FL and a trip to Austin, Texas to play in a tournament against other MLS opponents. Kai was a top performer on the field and competed very well in both events. In addition, Kai also demonstrated positive leadership qualities towards his teammates and embodied the core values of IMCF well, both on and off the field. For these reasons we feel Kai is deserving of the player of the month award,” said Academy coaches Ben Applefield and Julius James.
