As the curtains draw on another exhilarating MLS NEXT season, the Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health have wrapped up their regular season competition. Notably, the U-13, U-14, U-15 and U-16 sides won their respective MLS NEXT league divisions to continue harvesting success for our Academy.
Let’s take a look below at how each age group performed throughout their MLS NEXT league seasons:
U-13
The U-13s showcased their immense potential this season with stellar performance from many of our young athletes. The team closed out the season winning the MLS NEXT U-13 Florida Division with a total 56 points in 22 games, registering 18 wins, two losses and two draws.
U-14
Continuing the trend of success, the U-14 side remained unbeaten across the team’s 24 league games this season. In all, the team recorded 20 wins and four draws for a total 64 points to finish seven points clear from second place Weston FC and win the MLS NEXT U-14 Florida Division.
U-15
Moving on to our Academy’s U-15 team, the boys also topped their league division, claiming 27 points from eight wins, four losses and three draws to win the MLS NEXT U-15 East Division and are now set to compete in the 2023 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs next month. Because of top performances and results throughout the league season, the U-15 team secured a spot in the MLS NEXT Playoffs without having won their group in the MLS Flex tournament.
U-16
The Inter Miami Academy U-16 side remained unbeaten to claim the top spot in the U-16 Florida Division, tallying 21 points from six wins and three draws. The team will also partake in the 2023 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs in June after securing its postseason berth by finishing first place in Group L with an undefeated record at the MLS NEXT Flex tournament earlier this month.Â
U-17
Lastly, the Academy’s U-17 finished third in the MLS NEXT U-17 East (South) Division with a record of five wins, seven losses and three draws for a total 18 points and were unable to advance to the 2023 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs.Â
What’s Next?
The 2023 MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs will now mark the conclusion of the MLS NEXT season (U-15 to U-19 age groups only). The action will take place from June 17 to 25 in Dallas-Fort Worth at Toyota Soccer Center and MoneyGram Soccer Park. For the teams that didn’t qualify for the MLS NEXT Cup Playoffs, there will still be an opportunity to participate in the MLS NEXT Cup Showcase which will be hosted at the same venue.
