With the Inter Miami CF Academy presented by Baptist Health in the midst of an exciting campaign, we present to you our talented youth players that kicked off 2023 with a bang.
To begin with our youngest age bracket, U-13 attacker Matteo Kolkowski enjoyed a stellar start to 2023 and was named Player of the Month for January.
“Matteo has come into the new year with a lot of fire, intensity, and purpose. His work in training is starting to manifest in games and he is making contributions on and off the ball for himself and the team,” said U-13 Academy head coach Gibran Tevar. “He has come a long way from the beginning of the season and this momentum should take him to new heights in the second half of the season. 'Kill-kowski', as we refer to him in training when he is on his A-game, is ready to take on the new expectations for the rest of the 2023 season."
Moving onto our Academy’s midlevel age groups, it was U-15 standout defender Gabriel Florentino who got the nod.
"Gabe has had a great start to the spring semester. He has played a year up all season and has shown significant improvement in his decision making, passing under pressure and in defending against older players. His composure on and off the ball were crucial for us to take home two clean sheets in our last games versus Atlanta and Charlotte. We are excited to continue seeing him grow and develop," highlighted U-15 Academy head coach Pedro Cavalcanti.
Last but not least, U-17 Academy defender Victor Fung was the pick of the bunch from our eldest age groups.
“Victor is one of the best players in the Academy to exemplify the club’s values of collaboration, ambition and excellence. Not only has he done well on the soccer field, but he also excels in school,” expressed U-17 head coach Ihor Dotsenko. “His performances in training and in the friendly match against the U.S. U-16 MYNT at the end of January were very good and, for his efforts and consistency, he has been rewarded with a selection to represent the U-17 Canadian national team at the U-17 CONCACAF Championship.”
