Inter Miami CF defender and three-time MLS All-Star DeAndre Yedlin has been called up to the United States Men’s National Team for its upcoming friendlies ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar
This will be the final camp before the 2022 FIFA World Cup begins in two months. The USMNT will compete in Group B alongside Wales, England and Iran.
Yedlin, 29, is one of 26 players called into the camp, and one of just eight players playing in Major League Soccer. The defender has 74 caps to his name to this point.
The U.S. Men’s National Team will play two international friendly matches as part of their preparation for the World Cup, starting with a match against Japan on Sept. 23, at the Düsseldorf Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany. The match will kick off at 8:26 a.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN2, ESPN+, UniMás and TUDN.
The USMNT’s second international friendly will be played against Saudi Arabia, at Estadio Nueva Condomina in Murcia, Spain. The match will kick off at 2 p.m. ET, and will be broadcast on FS1, UniMás and TUDN.
Yedlin, who earned his third MLS All-Star selection this year in his first season with Inter Miami CF, has been a mainstay for the team; Yedlin has played almost every single minute in the Herons’ 2022 MLS regular season campaign, registering 2,637 minutes, and making 40 interceptions in the process. The versatile player has also made an impact on the team’s offense, charging down the right flank to contribute three assists and 24 key passes.
Yedlin will join the U.S. Men’s National Team after Inter Miami’s match against D.C. United on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. ET.
