Inter Miami FC defender DeAndre Yedlin has been called up by the United States Men’s national team for the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.Â
The United States is set to be part of Group A in the Concacaf Gold Cup group stage alongside Jamaica and Nicaragua. An opposing fourth team will enter the group once the Gold Cup Prelims are completed. The team is first set to face off against Jamaica at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois on June 24, at 9:30 p.m. ET. From there, the United States is scheduled to play against a still to be determined opposing team on June 28 at 9:30 p.m. ET at CITY PARK in St. Louis, Missouri, and then wrap up their final group stage matches against Nicaragua on July 2 at 7 p.m. ET at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.Â
Yedlin, 29, most recently featured on the international stage back in April, starting and playing the full 90 minutes in he 1-1 draw against Mexico in what was his 78th cap for the USMNT. Additionally, he also etched his name into the USMNT history books in the match as he became just the 13th USMNT player to register double-digit appearances against Mexico.
With 78 appearances, two-time FIFA World Cup veteran Yedlin is the leading cap winner in the USMNT squad. He is also one of seven players in the squad who was included in the country’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and one of eleven with previous Concacaf Gold Cup experience. Should he appear in one match at the Gold Cup, Yedlin will become the 25th USMNT player to earn 40 appearances in official competition.
The defender has made 16 appearances, 15 of them starts, in the 2023 MLS regular season, registering three assists in the process.
