Inter Miami CF midfielder Diego Gómez has been called up to represent the Paraguayan national team for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches.
La Albirroja will first visit Chile on Thursday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Estadio Monumental David Arellano in Macul, Chile. The team will then take on Colombia at home on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. ET at Estadio Defensores del Chaco in Asunción, Paraguay.
Gómez has represented the Paraguayan national team across youth and senior levels. He has excelled at the youth level, captaining the U-20 team to the 2022 South American Games title, and captaining the team again at the 2023 South American U-20 Championship. At the senior international level, the midfielder debuted for Paraguay in September 2022, and has made five appearances, including two starts. He most recently featured for the senior side in a September 2023 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Peru.
On the club side, Gómez made his Inter Miami debut on Aug. 2 in a 3-1 victory over rivals Orlando City in the 2023 Leagues Cup Round of 32. He then went on to make five appearances in the competition to help Inter Miami win the title as the Club collected its first official piece of silverware for the First Team. Gómez then registered his first Inter Miami goal in his MLS debut as the team earned a 0-2 win on the road against the New York Red Bulls on Aug. 26.
The midfielder will join the Paraguayan national team after the Noche d’Or, Inter Miami’s friendly home match against New York City FC on Friday, November 10 at 8 p.m. ET at DRV PNK Stadium.
