Inter Miami CF goalkeeper Drake Callender has been called up by the USMNT for the team’s upcoming match against Mexico on April 19 in Glendale, Ariz. Callender will be part of the team’s squad for the inaugural edition of the Allstate Continental Clásico, a new annual event that will see the USMNT host a top-tier opponent from North, Central or South America. Inter Miami teammate DeAndre Yedlin has been named in the roster as well.
This will be Callender’s first time in a USMNT senior side roster, after previously being selected for U.S. U-23 training camps in 2019 and 2021.
The match will be broadcast live on TBS, Telemundo and Universo and streamed on HBO Max and Peacock. Coverage begins at 10 p.m. ET, with kickoff set for 10:22 p.m. Fans can follow the USMNT on Twitter (@USMNT), Instagram (@USMNT), Facebook and the official U.S. Soccer App.
Additionally, with the selections of Callender and Yedlin, Inter Miami is one of just seven MLS clubs with multiple players on the roster.
Callender has excelled at the club level with Inter Miami, breaking through and becoming a mainstay in goal in 2022. The California native earned a nomination as one of three finalists for the 2022 Allstate MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award thanks to his efforts throughout the campaign. Following the season, he signed a contract extension with Inter Miami through the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, with a Club option for 2026.
The goalkeeper has also started 2023 in scintillating form, leading the league in saves and earning three MLS Team of the Matchday designations through the season’s first seven weeks.
