Recently signed Inter Miami CF Homegrown David Ruiz has been called up by Honduras for the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup. The 23rd edition of the tournament will run from May 20 to June 11 in Argentina.
The tournament will pit 24 countries from six different confederations against each other. Teams will be separated into six groups of four, with the top two teams in each group and the four best third-place finishers advancing to the knockout rounds.
Honduras will compete in Group F at the tournament alongside France, the Republic of Korea and Gambia.

Ruiz, 19, is one of five midfielders in the 21-man squad for Honduras, and the only player born outside of the country in the squad.
The young midfielder has previously featured for both the U.S. and Honduras at the youth levels, recently featuring for the U.S. U-19 Men’s Youth National Team in January, and Honduras U-20 team in April.
At the Club level, Ruiz has featured twice for the First Team on short-term loans this season before officially signing as a Homegrown Player. He made his MLS debut on March 25, coming off the bench to feature against Chicago Fire FC at DRV PNK Stadium. Then on April 22, he again came off the bench again in a road match against Houston Dynamo FC. The Honduran-American has also made three appearances, including two starts, for Inter Miami II this season.
