Called Up: Marco Cantalapiedra Called Up by Puerto Rican U-15 National Team for UNCAF Tournament

Inter Miami CF Academy midfielder Marco Cantalapiedra has been called up by the Puerto Rican U-15 national team for the team’s participation in the U-15 UNCAF Tournament in Costa Rica from April 28 to May 4.This will mark his first time representing the Academy at the international level.

The team will compete in Group A of the tournament alongside Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and El Salvador. The team that finishes first in the group will advance to the final and face the winner of Group B on May 4. The team’s schedule goes as follows:

  • April 28th vs. Costa Rica at 5 p.m. ET
  • April 30th vs. Nicaragua at 1 p.m. ET
  • May 2nd vs. El Salvador at 1 p.m. ET

At the club level, Cantalapiedra plays for the Academy’s U-15 team and recently was a member of the team that competed at the 2023 Generation Adidas Cup, taking on the likes of Valencia CF’s U-15 side and beating CF Montreal and Saint Louis City SC in penalties.

Cantalapiedra is among a growing list of current and former Inter Miami CF Academy players to be called up to a national team, including: Noah Allen, Nicholas Almeida, Tyler Austin, Edison Azcona, Israel Boatwright, Benjamin Cremaschi, Bryan Destin, Justin Ellis, Victor Fung, Tyler Hall, Santiago Morales, Daniel Pinter, Ardián Rosario, David Ruiz and Felipe Valencia, among others.
