Inter Miami FC forward Shanyder Borgelin has been called up by the Haiti national team for a training camp in preparation for the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup.Â
Borgelin, 21, has previously featured on the international stage, representing the Haitian men’s senior national team on three occasions to date. Notably, he appeared off the bench in Haiti’s March 2022 friendly against Guatemala at DRV PNK Stadium.Â
The Haitian national team is slated to be part of Group B in the Gold Cup group stages. The team is first set to face off against Qatar at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas on June 25, at 6 p.m. ET. From there, Haiti is scheduled to play Mexico at the University of Houston Stadium on June 29 at 10 p.m. ET, and Honduras at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 2 at 9 p.m. ET.
The striker signed as a Homegrown Player for Inter Miami in February ahead of the 2023 season and quickly made his mark, netting in the team’s season opener, making him the first Inter Miami Homegrown Player to score on his MLS debut. Borgelin also scored for the team in its Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against Miami FC this season. In all, he has made nine MLS regular season appearances to this point in 2023.Â
The forward is now set to join his Haitian teammates after Inter Miami’s road game against New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium this Saturday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
