Cremaschi, Farías and Gómez Named to MLS 22 Under 22 Presented by BODYARMOR

Inter Miami CF Homegrown and Academy product Benjamin Cremaschi, Argentine international and MLS U-22 initiative signing Facundo Farías and Paraguayan international and MLS U-22 initiative midfielder Diego Gómez have been named to the 22 Under 22 presented by BODYARMOR, a list of the best 22 players in MLS under the age of 22. Eighteen-year-old Cremaschi came in as the second, 21-year-old Farías ranks 11th and 20-year-old Gómez is 20th among the league’s top up-and-coming young talent. 

Inter Miami leads the league being the only team with three players among the top 22 talents.

Players were voted on by select MLS staff and MLS Season Pass talent. To be eligible, players have to remain 21 or younger before the end of the 2023 MLS regular season, which is Decision Day on October 21. Or, in other words, they must be born after October 22, 2001.

Cremaschi has impressed this year and become a key player for Inter Miami since earning his first professional contract in Nov. 2022 ahead of the 2023 season to at the time become the fifth Academy product to sign for the Club’s First Team. In all, the young midfielder has made 40 appearances across all competitions in 2023, registering three goals and seven assists. He featured prominently in the team’s 2023 Leagues Cup title-winning run, including scoring a goal in the thrilling matchup against FC Dallas in the round of 16 that resulted in a 4-4 draw before netting the decisive kick from the spot in the subsequent penalty shootout to secure the win.

Farías, meanwhile, was acquired from Argentine side Club Atlético Colón on July 29 and has since become a valuable asset for Inter Miami’s attack after making his team debut in the win over FC Cincinnati in the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup semifinals on Aug. 23. Since then, the Argentine versatile midfielder has gone on to register 12 appearances across all competitions, nine of them starts, while picking up three goals and three assists in the process.

Lastly, Gómez also joined the team during the summer, being signed from Paraguayan side Club Libertad on July 19. The midfielder made his debut in the 3-1 home win over rivals Orlando City SC in the round of 32 en route to helping Inter Miami clinch the 2023 Leagues Cup title to win the Club’s first official piece of silverware. Notably, he was one of the 10 Inter Miami players that converted from the spot in the thrilling penalty shootout win over Nashville SC in the Leagues Cup final. Overall, Gómez has made a total of 10 appearances across all competitions, six of them starts, while netting a goal in his MLS debut against the New York Red Bulls on Aug. 26.

Additionally, the three young promising midfielders have earned a combined total of five MLS Team of the Matchday selections throughout the 2023 regular season. All three players have also been called up for international duty throughout the season, with Cremaschi making his senior debut for the USMNT last month and most recently being called up by the U.S. Men’s Olympic team, Gómez being called up by Paraguay for the start of Conmebol’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, and Farías recently being summoned by Argentina’s senior squad for the first time.
