Inter Miami CF announced today that it has acquired a 2024 International Roster Slot from D.C. United in exchange for defender Christopher McVey. The Club will also receive up to $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) if McVey meets certain performance metrics.
“Chris has been a reliable, valued member of our squad since he joined the Club, playing every match in his first season and helping us make history in winning our first title last year. We’re thankful for his efforts at Inter Miami and wish him well in his future,” said Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson.
McVey joined Inter Miami ahead of the 2022 MLS season and went on to play in every match of his first regular season. In total, the defender made over 60 appearances for the team across all competitions, adding one goal and one assist in the process. He also made three appearances in the inaugural edition of the Leagues Cup in 2023, helping the team win its historic first title.
