Inter Miami CF Announces Roster Decisions Following Inaugural Season

Inter Miami CF today announced year-end roster decisions ahead of the 2021 Major League Soccer (MLS) season. In addition to 17 players already under contract, one player option was exercised, eight player options were declined and four players are out of contract. Conversations regarding the return of certain players, including defender Andrés Reyes, are ongoing.

Below is a breakdown of Inter Miami’s roster decisions. 

Players with guaranteed contracts (already under contract) for 2021: George Acosta, Drake Callender, Julián Carranza, Jay Chapman, Nicolás Figal, Leandro González Pirez, Gonzalo Higuaín, Christian Makoun, Blaise Matuidi, Lewis Morgan, Dylan Nealis, Matías Pellegrini, Rodolfo Pizarro, Robbie Robinson, Ben Sweat, Victor Ulloa, Jairo Quinteros

Defender Jairo Quinteros will spend the remainder of 2020 on loan with the Bolivian First Division side Club Bolivar. 
2021 INTER MIAMI CF ROSTER (as of Dec. 3, 2020):

Goalkeepers (2): Drake Callender, John McCarthy

Defenders (6): Nicolás Figal, Leandro González Pirez, Christian Makoun, Dylan Nealis, Ben Sweat, Jairo Quinteros 

Midfielders (7): George Acosta, Jay Chapman, Blaise Matuidi, Lewis Morgan, Matías Pellegrini, Rodolfo Pizarro, Victor Ulloa

Forwards (3): Julián Carranza, Gonzalo Higuaín, Robbie Robinson

Announcing roster decisions is the first step in the 2021 roster-building process as the MLS offseason officially begins on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 9 a.m. with the Half-Day Trade Window.  The MLS Expansion Draft for newcomers Austin FC is set for Tuesday, Dec. 15, while the End-of-Year Waivers and MLS Free Agency open on Wednesday, Dec. 16. MLS will announce the lists of players eligible for these postseason roster mechanisms in advance.
