Inter Miami CF eMLS player, John “K1John” Kamel, secured a coveted spot at the EA SPORTS FC Pro World Championship that will take place this Summer, courtesy of his performance at the 2024 eMLS Cup over the weekend. The Egyptian native, was the runner-up in the eMLS Cup Final on Sunday, which took place at the iconic ACL Live at the Moody Theater as part of this year’s SXSW.
Inter Miami's K1John defeated three opponents before meeting his match JAFONSO, in the Championship. K1John kicked off the tournament by edging out Philadelphia Union eMLS competitor ThiagoCapo12 4-3, before advancing to the quarterfinals where he earned an 8-4 victory against Atlanta United's eMLS star, Paulo Neto. In the semifinals, K1John showed out in electric fashion, earning a statement victory of 9-3 against his St. Louis City SC eMLS opponent, NR7. The result led Kamel to his first appearance in the eMLS Cup Final, in his first year in the League.
The 2024 eMLS season included 22 players from MLS Clubs who competed in two League Series competitions and qualifiers to get to eMLS Cup. The eMLS Cup also featured interactions between fans and players before matches, emphasizing the crossover between real and digital sports. The eMLS bracket finals were streamed on MLS’ Twitch and YouTube channels, with various activities and giveaways for fans in attendance.
