Inter Miami CF announced today that it has signed versatile defender Harvey Neville to a contract running through the 2024 Major League Soccer (MLS) season with Club options for 2025 and 2026. The fullback, who can feature on both flanks as well as in midfield, becomes the third player this season to earn a First Team deal from the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro side Inter Miami CF II, and will not occupy an international roster slot following receipt of his U.S. Green Card.
Neville becomes the third player this season to earn a First Team contract from Inter Miami CF II, following the signings of 2021 MLS SuperDraft selection center-back Aimé Mabika and Academy product and Pembroke Pines, Fla. native Noah Allen.
“Harvey has developed well over these last two seasons with Inter Miami CF II. We’re pleased with his progress as a young player in our system and feel his versatility will offer us cover in a number of areas,” said Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson.
Neville, 20, joined the club in May 2021, signing for Inter Miami CF II. In his first season with the Club he made 21 appearances, all starts, and registered one assist in USL League One. This year, featuring primarily as a right back, Neville has made 15 appearances, all starts in MLS NEXT Pro. He has registered two assists this season, both coming in a 4-0 win over FC Cincinnati 2 this June.
The defender has also spent time with the Inter Miami First Team, joining the team in preseason and featuring in two international friendlies at DRV PNK Stadium, including scoring a goal in the team’s 4-0 win over Peruvian side Club Universitario de Deportes.
Neville is a product of the Manchester United academy. He signed his first professional contract for the club in July 2020. After joining in 2018, Neville made 28 official appearances across a number of youth levels for Manchester United, most recently featuring in nine Premier League 2 matches and one EFL Trophy match during the 2020-21 season, tallying one goal and two assists. Prior to joining the Manchester United academy, he spent several seasons in the Valencia CF Academy system in Spain, featuring for the team from 2015 to 2018.
On the international stage, Neville has featured in the Republic of Ireland youth set-up, notably receiving a call-up to the U-19 team in 2019 at just 17 years old.
