Inter Miami CF goalkeeper Drake Callender and defender DeAndre Yedlin represented the Club on Wednesday night with the USMNT in the team’s matchup against Mexico in the inaugural edition of the Allstate Continental Clásico, a new annual event that will see the USMNT host a top-tier opponent from North, Central or South America. The team played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at University of Phoenix Stadium, with Jesús Ferreira leveling the scoring in the 81st minute after Uriel Antuna had put Mexico ahead in the 55th minute.
Yedlin played his first match for the team after appearing at the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the end of last year. The right back started and played the full 90 minutes in what was his 78th cap for the USMNT - the most among players on the roster for the match. Additionally, he also etched his name into the USMNT history books as he became just the 13th USMNT to register double-digit appearances against Mexico.
Callender, who received his first USMNT call up for the fixture, remained an unused substitute in the match in Glendale, Ariz.
Callender and Yedlin will now rejoin their Inter Miami teammates ahead of the team’s match against the Houston Dynamo on the road this Saturday, April 22 at Shell Energy Stadium.
