Heron Talk presented by Gallagher
As Inter Miami CF gets ready to travel to the Windy City to face Chicago Fire FC for the second time this season, the team began the process of putting the finishing touches on its preparations. Versatile attacker Ariel Lassiter met with members of the media after training to preview the crucial match up.
“The important thing that we’ve been working on, is getting our bodies back, and mentally getting back to where we want to be,” Lassiter said. “We’re looking forward to Chicago; it’s another great opportunity for us to keep pushing back up the table.”
Lassiter, who has three goals and three assists this season in addition to 17 key passes made, expressed his belief that the squad has grown exponentially over the course of the season. The improvements the team has implemented and continued to expand on, Lassiter thinks, will be a key facet in Inter Miami’s push for a playoff position.
“I think it’s going to be a tight, tight game [against Chicago]. We played them the first game of the season, and now almost at the end of the season. I believe that we’re a completely different team, and I felt like we should’ve won that first match against them. Hopefully we can take that same kind of mentality, where even on the road we come home with three points. Of course we always want to win, but the important thing at this point in time during the season is to not lose and learn how to take a point away from home, and keep on climbing the table. We believe in ourselves to get three points.”
Lassiter also spoke about the experience of participating in the recent open training and meet and greet event for Season Ticket Members. The enthusiasm and electric atmosphere the fans brought to the training session provided a boost for the team ahead of the last stretch of the season.
“I think it was great,” Lassiter began. “All the fans that came out and are always supporting us, to be able to interact with them I think grows the relationship that we have, between players and fans, and now hopefully we can show that bond on the pitch and do this for them. We see how much it means to them, and we know how much it means to us. The important thing is to go out there and continue to fight for them, and get into the playoffs.”
