Inter Miami CF forward Luis Suárez was voted Major League Soccer (MLS) Player of the Month for February and March 2024.
Suárez earns Player of the Month honors after his stellar first month in MLS, having recorded five goals and three assists in just seven appearances for Inter Miami that currently sits tied for second in the Eastern Conference standings. The Uruguayan striker’s five goals are tied for the second most in the 2024 MLS regular season, with all of them coming from an open play. His eight goal contributions were also the second most in the league, trailing only Real Salt Lake’s Cristian Arango (nine). With Suárez leading the forward line, Inter Miami finished with a 3-2-2 record during February and March, totaling an MLS-best 14 goals to begin the year. Suárez also earned Player of the Matchday honors for his two-goal, two-assist performance on Matchday 3 as Miami defeated Orlando City SC 5-0, and on Matchday 5 after coming onto the pitch as a second-half substitute and scoring a brace to lead the team to a valuable 1-3 victory at D.C. United.
Notably, Suárez becomes the first Miami player in Club history to be named MLS Player of the Month. The dynamic forward becomes the third Uruguayan player to earn the honor in MLS history and the first to do so since Nicolás Lodeiro’s performance for Seattle Sounders FC in the month of August in 2016. Suárez is also the first player to be named MLS Player of the Month in his debut month of MLS action since Daryl Dike for Orlando City SC in August 2020.
Suárez and Inter Miami will look to return to the top of the Eastern Conference when the team hosts the Colorado Rapids at Chase Stadium on Matchday 8 this Saturday, April 6 at 7:30 p.m. ET in what will be the first-ever matchup between the sides.
MLS Player of the Month is voted upon by a panel of select national media members in a process conducted by MLS Communications.
