Head Coach Darren Powell addressed the media about the technical staff’s objective of preparing IMCF II players for an even grander stage.
“For us, it’s about getting that valuable experience, to try to be able to do things we’ve worked on on the training ground, and being able to execute against good opponents. That’s really what the focus is, and on getting players through [to the first team]. For us, it’s about prioritizing the players and making sure we push the players through. They’re good players, and our job is to prepare them to make that step [up to the first team].”
In its previous game, ten-man Inter Miami II fell to Orlando City B in the second meeting between the sides this season, having won the first meeting on April 10.
Inter Miami II sits at sixth in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference Standings, with ten points (3W-5L-1D), four points behind fourth place visitors New York City FC II (4W-3L-2D).
NYCFC II is coming off of a 3-0 victory over the Chicago Fire II, with Justin Haak scoring his first goal of the season, and Massimo Murania Yankowitz and El Mahdi Youssoufi adding to their previous tallies.
