Inter Miami CF II is returning to the pitch this weekend at DRV PNK Stadium, facing FC Cincinnati 2 for the second time this season on Sunday. The match will kick off at 8 p.m. ET on June 19, and will be streamed live on mlsnextpro.com.
"Every team we've played this year has been really competitive, and Cincinnati is no different. It was a very strong performance when we last played Cincinnati, that game could have gone either way. We expect the same on Sunday," said head coach Darren Powell.
Earlier this season, Inter Miami II secured a 0-1 road victory against FC Cincinnati 2 in a match that saw Tyler Bagley notch his first goal for the squad, and goalkeeper Andre Zuluaga preserve the clean sheet with a penalty save in the 21st minute.Â
Inter Miami II’s last match saw a pair of milestones for young Academy products, as Israel Boatwright made his first professional start and Bryan Destin made his professional debut as a substitute.
FC Cincinnati 2 is currently in last place of the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference standings, with nine points (3W-7L-0D). The club, however, travels to Miami following two consecutive victories, defeating Orlando City B 3-5 on May 29, and Rochester New York FC 1-0 at home on June 11.Â
Inter Miami II is currently in seventh place in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference standings, with 13 points (4W-7L-1D) sitting 3 points behind Rochester New York FC for the final playoff spot.
Inter Miami CF Loans
Inter Miami CF II announced the acquisition of three First Team player on loan, pending league and federation approval. Under the terms of the loan agreement, the Inter Miami First Team retains the rights to recall all players at any point during the remainder of the MLS regular season, subject to MLS roster compliance and guidelines. The club has loaned goalkeeper CJ dos Santos, midfielder George Acosta and defender Joevin Jones to Inter Miami II for Sunday's match.
