Inter Miami CF II will visit Columbus Crew 2 this Thursday, June 9 for the team’s first midweek road match of the season. The match at Historic Crew Stadium will kick off at 7 p.m. ET and will be streamed live on mlsnextpro.com.
“We know Columbus is a very good team, currently in first place and in a good run of form. We played them early in the season and it was a very good quality, high-standard game. We fully anticipate the same coming into Thursday,” said head coach Darren Powell. “We’re looking forward to really testing ourselves away from home against the top team in the league.”
Inter Miami II is coming off of a strong 2-0 victory over New England Revolution II at DRV PNK Stadium. The match saw Shaan Hundal net his first goal of the season while Tyler Bagley scored his second. Another milestone was reached when Academy U-17 midfielder Pedro Faife came on as a second-half substitute, making his professional debut.
Columbus, meanwhile, will enter the match fresh off of a 2-4 win over Chicago Fire II on the road. The team currently sits atop the Eastern Conference standings, having registered 24 points in 10 matches from eight wins and two losses. Columbus has been led by forward Jacen Russell-Rowe, who has notched seven goals - good for second in the league - and two assists.
On Thursday, the two sides will be meeting for the second time this season after facing off at DRV PNK Stadium on March 26 to open the first MLS NEXT Pro season. Inter Miami II earned a 2-0 victory in that match thanks to a brace from First Team loanee Emerson Rodríguez.
