Inter Miami CF II (8W-3D-7L, 28 points) will hit the road again this weekend to face Philadelphia Union II on Sunday, Aug. 14 at 6 p.m. ET. The match at Subaru Park will be streamed live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
“All the games against the Union have been really well played against each other. Philadelphia is a really well coached team and we’ve had some really tight contests this year,” said head coach Darren Powell. “It’s a really good opportunity for our young players…Regardless of the previous scores, it’s all about this week.”
Inter Miami II and Philadelphia Union II have played twice so far this season, with the first matchup at DRV PNK Stadium resulting in a 3-3 draw, and the second a 1-2 win for Philadelphia.
Inter Miami II will enter Sunday’s match on a six-game unbeaten streak. In its most recent match, the team earned a 4-2 home victory over New England Revolution II on the strength of a hat trick from team leading scorer Shanyder Borgelin, and a pair of assists from MLS NEXT Pro assist leader Romeo Beckham.
A trio of Inter Miami CF Academy products who also feature in MLS NEXT Pro, meanwhile, recently returned to South Florida after participating in the MLS NEXT All-Star Game. Israel Boatwright, Benjamin Cremaschi and Kobi Thomas all helped guide the East team, helmed by Inter Miami CF Academy coach Javier Morales, to a 2-1 win in the match, while Cremaschi drew a penalty and scored a goal.
Philadelphia, meanwhile, will enter Sunday’s match on the back of three consecutive wins, most recently defeating FC Cincinnati 2 by a score of 2-3 on the road. The team currently sits just one place and two points below Inter Miami II in the MLS NEXT Pro Eastern Conference standings with the regular season approaching its final stages.
