Inter Miami CF is set to play its third and last Breeze Airways™ Carolina Challenge Cup match on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 p.m. ET by taking on Charlotte FC, MLS’ newest franchise. Inter Miami currently sits at the top of the tournament’s standings having collected four points from its first two matchups. The game at Patriots Point Soccer Stadium in Charleston, South Carolina will be streamed live via the Inter Miami App for local South Florida fans within a 100 miles radius of Miami.

Inter Miami will enter the match following a 1-1 draw against the Columbus Crew in the tournament opener and a defeating hosts Charleston Battery 1-0 and sitting atop the tournament’s standings. Both of the team’s goals in the tournament have been netted by Costa Rican international attacker Ariel Lassiter, with assists from Gonzalo Higuaín and Fort Lauderdale CF product Harvey Neville respectively. Overall, Inter Miami has been unbeaten in three of its four 2022 open-doors preseason matchups to date.
Earlier this preseason, Inter Miami faced the Crew and CF Montréal behind closed-doors, and D.C. United and Peruvian side Club Universitario de Deportes as well, defeating the latter 4-0 in the team’s first international friendly at DRV PNK Stadium.
Charlotte, meanwhile, enters the fixture after falling 1-0 against USL side the Charleston Battery in its first outing in the exhibition tournament and subsequently playing a goalless draw against fellow MLS team the Columbus Crew.
Charlotte FC will be making its Major League Soccer (MLS) debut in the 2022 season, becoming the League’s 28th and newest franchise. The expansion side will be led by Spanish head coach Miguel Ángel Ramírez, who previously was at the helm at Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle (2019-2020), where he guided the team to the 2019 CONMEBOL Copa Sudamericana title, and Brazilian team Sport Club Internacional (2021). Charlotte’s roster features a familiar face in Venezuelan defender Christian Makoun, who was an Inter Miami player throughout the club’s first two seasons, as well as experienced left back Christian Fuchs, who won the English Premier League in the 2015-16 during his time at Leicester City and formerly used to captain the Austrian national team, and Polish striker Karol Świderski, who was signed from Greek side PAOK as the franchises’ first Designated Player.
