Midweek U.S. Open Cup Action
Inter Miami will look to close-out its third consecutive two-match week on a high after advancing to the Quarterfinals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup by defeating Nashville SC 2-1 at DRV PNK Stadium on Wednesday night.
Inter Miami earned its place in the Quarterfinals by defeating Miami FC, Charleston Battery and most recently Nashville SC, and will now face USL Championship side Birmingham Legion FC on the road at Protective Stadium in Birmingham, Alabama on June 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
Another Academy Product Milestone
Defender Ian Fray’s inclusion in the starting XI against Nashville marked his first start for Inter Miami’s First Team, and made him the third Academy product to start a match for the First Team this season. Fray joined midfielders Benjamin Cremaschi and David Ruiz; defender Noah Allen has also featured for the First Team this season.
Round Two Against Montréal in 2023 Regular Season
Saturday's meeting will be the second one between the sides this season. The last time Inter Miami matched up against Montréal was in its 2023 season opener on Feb. 25, with the team securing a 2-0 victory.
Familiar Faces
Saturday's matchup may present reunions for three players with their former team. Inter Miami defender Kamal Miller will be facing former side CF Montréal, while current Montréal players Bryce Duke and Ariel Lassiter will also face their former team.
Scouting CF Montréal
Montréal, meanwhile, will enter the fixture after falling 2-1 on the road against the New York Red Bulls in their last MLS game. Overall in the 2023 regular season, the Canadian-based side has recorded five wins, eight losses and zero draws and currently sit 13th in the Eastern Conference standings one place below Inter Miami.
Midfielder Mathieu Choinière has been the team's leader thus far this campaign, with two goals and two assists to his name.
