Thriller at DRV PNK Stadium
On Saturday, Inter Miami will aim to get its second win of the 2022 regular season after topping the New England Revolution 3-2 in a thriller at DRV PNK Stadium in the team’s last fixture. Striker Leonardo Campana, who returned to the starting line up in place of injured forward Gonzalo Higuaín, had a historic performance. The Ecuadorian led Inter Miami to victory by scoring a perfect hat trick, meaning scoring a goal with a header, with his left foot and with his right foot. The hat trick, which was the first in club history and the first of Campana’s career, earned him Heineken Man of the Match honors and a spot in the starting XI of the MLS Team of the Week for week 6 of the season.
MLS Player of the Week Honors for Campana
Additionally, following his dominating display against New England, Campana not only earned Team of the Week honors, as he was also voted MLS Player of the Week for week 6 of the 2022 regular season.
Familiar Faces in First Visit to Seattle in Club History
This weekend's trip to Seattle will see Inter Miami face the Sounders for the first time in club history. The matchup will present special reunions for Inter Miami Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson and for defenders Joevin Jones, Damion Lowe and DeAndre Yedlin, who return to their former club. Henderson was Technical Director for the Sounders from 2008 to 2021, helping the franchise win two MLS Cup titles (2016 and 2019), four Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Titles (2009, 2010, 2011 and 2014) and a Supporters’ Shield (2014). The defenders, meanwhile, also enjoyed successful spells with the team, with Jones winning two MLS Cups (2016 and 2019) in his two stints in Seattle, Lowe being selected by the club in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft and Yedlin beginning his accomplished career with the Sounders and being a First Team player from 2013 to 2014, helping the side win the Supporters’ Shield and Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup titles in 2014.
