Inter Miami CF II (3W-5L-1D, 10 points) suffered a 0-1 loss against Orlando City B on Thursday night at DRV PNK Stadium.
The Heron’s Matchday 10 starting XI featured CJ dos Santos in goal; Nykolas Sessock, Tyler Hall, Farid Sar-Sar, and Noah Allen manning the defense; Jake LaCava, captain Abel Caputo, Lawson Sunderland, and Lucas Meek filling the midfield; and Lorenzo D’Agostini and Braxton Taghvai-Najib leading the attack.Â
The first half opened up with a few shots on target by both teams as they fought for control in the first 20 minutes. Inter Miami nearly put the ball in the back of the net on back-to-back opportunities with a right-footed shot by Meek and left-footed shot by D’Agostini. Similarly, Orlando City had a couple of attacking opportunities of their own ending the half with 11 shots with six of them being on target. Despite the better attacking efforts from The Lions, it was Inter Miami’s goalkeeper dos Santos who stole the show in the first half with six crucial saves to keep the match level.
Inter Miami came out of the break attacking with two shots and a near scoring opportunity by second half substitute Cameron Johnson. However, in the 56th minute, it was Orlando who took the lead with a sliding goal by forward Jack Lynn, coming off a cross from defender Alexander Freeman. Inter Miami continued to push for the equalizer and came close in the final minute of stoppage time with a close range header by Sunderland.   Â
The scoreline held until the final whistle with the visitors claiming a 0-1 victory.Â
Inter Miami CF II returns to action this weekend as the team hits the road as they travel to Massachusetts to take on the New England Revolution II this Sunday, May 28 at 6 p.m. ET at Gillette Stadium.
