Inter Miami CF II (4W-11L-2D, 14 points) fell 0-2 to New England Revolution II at DRV PNK Stadium this Sunday night. The match featured the MLS NEXT Pro debut for Academy product Felipe Valencia who featured in the starting lineup.
The Herons starting XI saw Cole Jensen in goal, with Nykolas Sessock, Cesar Abadia-Reda, Tyler Hall, and Kevin Gorbell lining up on defense; Joseph Convers, Alejandro Flores, Santiago Morales, and Braxton Taghvai-Najib in midfield; with Valencia and Cameron Johnson up front as the forwards.
In the first half, Inter Miami fought for ball control and pressed with the team’s offense with some early looks, putting two shots on goal from Taghvai-Najib and Valencia within the first 20 minutes. On the defensive end, The Herons’ goalkeeper Jensen had four outstanding saves that kept the scoreline tied going into halftime.
Coming out of the break, Miami fell behind against New England early after the visiting team’s attacker, Payton Miller, opened the scoring in the 51st minute with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner, coming off a pass from Jordan Adebayo-Smith.
Inter Miami fought to get back in the game with a pair of hard-hit shots on target from Morales, but, New England’s Malcolm Fry eventually put the game away with a right-footed shot in the 88th minute.
The scoreline held until the final whistle with the visiting team claiming the 0-2 win.
