Inter Miami CF II fell 7-0 to New York City FC II on Saturday afternoon at Belson Stadium.
Inter Miami CF II fielded a line up that included First Team loanee CJ dos Santos in goal, and MLS NEXT Pro players as outfield players; Logan Batiste, Modesto Mendez, Ethan Hardin and Harvey Neville started in defense; Abel Caputo, Braxton Najib, Lawson Sunderland manned the midfield; Romeo Beckham and Dairon Reyes played on either side of Shanyder Borgelin in attack.
The match marked the first starts this season for Reyes, Sunderland and Najib.
The hosts took an early lead with John Denis converting from the penalty spot after being awarded a penalty kick in the ninth minute. The northeastern outfit would go on to double their lead in the 15th minute, with a goal by Massimo Murania.
NYCFC II extended their lead with two quick goals from Stephen Turnbull in the 56th and Massimo Murania’s second of the afternoon in the 57th minute. Jack Beer would add to NYCFC II’s tally with the team’s fifth goal in the 67th minute.
Tyler Bagley and David Ruiz made their debuts for Inter Miami II, as they replaced Neville and Najib with a double substitution in the 65th minute. Later on in the 73rd minute, Drew Hardin came on as a substitute, making his first appearance of the season, replacing Reyes.
NYCFC II added two more goals in the 89th and 90th minute, scored by Julian Gomez and Jonathan Jimenez.
Inter Miami CF II will be on the road again next week, facing FC Cincinnati 2 at NKU Soccer Stadium on April 23 at 1p.m. ET.
