Inter Miami CF midfielder Matías Rojas has been named to the Team of the Matchday for Matchday 13 of the 2024 MLS regular season. The Paraguayan international's exceptional performance was instrumental in securing the team’s 2-3 victory over CF Montréal on Saturday night to claim three points and clinch its first-ever road win at Stade Saputo.
Rojas earns his second Team of the Matchday honors in what was just his third MLS appearance. The midfielder features in the starting XI after a stellar performance in his 71 minutes of action over the weekend. Rojas ignited the Herons victory by securing the first of three goals scored on the evening and also tallying an assist to help Inter Miami turn the proceedings around and achieve its eighth regular season win in an impressive second half comeback.
After facing an early setback with two goals conceded in the first half against the hosts, Rojas' moment of brilliance arrived as he unleashed a sublime free kick to find the back of the net and narrow the score to 2-1 in the 44th minute. The newly signed attacking midfielder secured his third goal this regular season in just three matches played since inking his deal with Inter Miami last month.
Rojas’ excellence continued in its most dazzling fashion, delivering a perfectly executed left-footed pass behind the opposing backline to find Benjamin Cremaschi, who expertly controlled the ball and swiftly beat the goalkeeper from inside the box to complete the comeback and give Inter Miami to a 2-3 lead in the 58th minute of the game. The assist was the first for Rojas this regular season.
In just 131 minutes played this regular season, Rojas has netted three goals and one assist.
