Inter Miami bounced back with a comprehensive 3-0 victory against Toronto FC at DRV PNK Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
Midfielder Lewis Morgan was proud of the team’s performance as well as the players who came off the bench to secure the result.
“I think we were more patient tonight in our build-up…the team that started going forward looked great and then the boys who came on as well ultimately made the difference so it was encouraging to see,” said Morgan.
Head coach Phil Neville now has his sights set on the team’s next game against FC Cincinnati as he aims to ensure that his team can capitalize on its momentum.
“We now got the win, we now look forward to the game on Saturday, we now look forward to playing in front of our unbelievable supporters again. I said to them, four more games, four more wins, that’s all we can ask for.”
Morgan agreed with the sentiment, emphasizing that the players are hyper-focused on simply earning results and that his team does everything it can to achieve success.
“With momentum in futbol you just never know so we just need to just keep taking care of what we can, which is winning games of fútbol, and then whatever happens, happens.”
With a vital victory and with the stakes high, Neville is confident in his squad’s ability to pull through and end this season on a successful note.
“You never know what might happen…we just got to make sure we go on a run now and the players are excited.”
Neville also complimented Federico Higuaín following the midfielder’s goal, highlighting his professionalism and excellent work rate that boosted the team.
“He’s got really good experience, his attitude is fantastic, he plays every game as if it’s his last…He tries to win every ball, he runs for every tackle, he runs for every knockdown, he wants to do a good thing for the team, he’s a real team player, and he’s got quality,” said Neville.
“He’s a joy to coach, he’s a joy to manage, he’s a joy to have around the place, he’s a tremendous example to everybody about what you should be [and] behave like as a professional footballer. He’s the type of person that you want around this fúbol Club.”
