With the 2022 season in the rear-view mirror and an exciting fourth season for the Club ahead in 2023, Inter Miami CF has already began cooking during the offseason. Today, the team announced the renewal of head coach Phil Neville’s contract, who will be at the helm for a third year in South Florida.
“I love working for this fútbol club, I enjoy working with the people I work with, for the people I work for, and I think it’s not often in life you find a location, find a job, find a city, that you fall in love with and have a job that you get up every single morning excited to go into and work with great people. Fortunately and luckily enough I have that great situation here at Inter Miami,” expressed Neville on Monday afternoon in the Club’s year-end press conference. “We are developing a real strong culture, and when I first joined this club, the word Jorge [Mas] kept using was family, and it feels like we are a family. I’m excited and look forward to next season and continuing the journey that me personally and this club are on.”
Additionally, with the offseason player acquisition mechanisms already underway, Inter Miami also released today its 2022 roster decisions.
Neville gave his take on the current state of his squad, proving quite pleased to count on a solid unit that already has one season working together under their belts, but challenging the team to strive for more in the 2023 campaign.
“In 2023 we want to hit the ground running. We didn’t hit the ground running last year. I think the easier bit this year is that we don’t have almost 20 new players and eight new staff to integrate. We’re going to start preseason with the nucleus of a starting eleven plus good depth players. We’re going to start with a really strong roster…
“Last year we brought in some brilliant characters who made us into a really good team, now we just need to take that and put the extra layer on the cake and bring more quality, more competition and make sure they will help us be successful… I feel like next year is the year where we really have to produce,” he concluded.
