As the curtain draws on Inter Miami CF’s first-ever international tour, in which the Club visited three countries in Asia and played four matches, let's take a peek at how the historic 2024 preseason preparation fixtures unfolded.
Al-Hilal vs. Inter Miami CF
The first stop presented a tough game against Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Hilal on January 29 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh to kick off the Riyadh Season Cup. The thrilling preseason friendly in the Saudi capital resulted in a 4-3 win for Al-Hilal, with striker Luis Suárez bagging his first Inter Miami goal, and captain Lionel Messi and Homegrown midfielder David Ruiz also getting on the scoresheet to score the Club’s first goals of the year - with Ruiz’s goal being the pick of the bunch, as the young midfielder exhibited exquisite footwork to leave two defenders behind before unleashing a powerful strike to beat the keeper at the near post.
Additionally, the match also saw Inter Miami debut the Club’s recently released 2024 pink primary kit, The 2getherness Jersey.
Al Nassr vs. Inter Miami CF
Up next was the Inter Miami's second and final match in Saudi Arabia to close out the team’s participation in the Riyadh Season Cup facing Al Nassr. The matchup at Kingdom Arena in the Saudi capital resulted in a 6-0 win for the hosts.
Hong Kong Team vs. Inter Miami CF
The third stop of the first-of-a-kind tour for an MLS side then brought Inter Miami to Hong Kong. The team first held an open training session at the Hong Kong National Stadium on February 3. After the training session, the team conducted a fútbol clinic with 80 young athletes selected through various charitable organizations.
Then on February 4, Inter Miami took on the Hong Kong Team, with the team earning a 1-4 victory over the hosts. The preseason match saw Robert Taylor, Lawson Sunderland, Leonardo Campana and Ryan Sailor score to claim the win.
Vissel Kobe vs. Inter Miami CF
The Herons then traveled to Japan for the team’s final stop of the international tour, taking on Vissel Kobe at the Japan National Stadium in Tokyo on February 7. After a goalless draw in a close matchup, it was the hosts that were victorious by winning 4-3 in the subsequent penalty shootout.
