- Inter Miami (10W-10L-6D, 36 points) will face the New York Red Bulls (11W, 8L, 8D, 41 points) tonight Red Bull Arena amidst a five-match unbeaten run, which includes a 0-1 road win against the San Jose Earthquakes on Aug. 3 and a 2-2 draw in the team’s visit to CF Montréal on Aug. 6. Inter Miami will have its sights set on equalling the club-record six-match unbeaten run that was set in 2021 from Aug. 18 to Sept. 14. The team’s current five-match unbeaten run is tied for the second longest in the league only behind CF Montréals six-match run.
- Additionally, the team could also equal the longest undefeated run on the road in club history, which the team achieved twice in 2021 when it was undefeated in three straight road games between April and May and between Aug. and Sept.
- Inter Miami and the New York Red Bulls will be facing each other for the second and final time in the 2022 MLS regular season, and sixth time in club history. Inter Miami will seek its third win against the New York side after earning a 2-0 win at DRV PNK Stadium earlier this campaign in the last meeting between the teams on May 22.
- Inter Miami enters the fixture after earning a crucial 2-1 home win for its playoff push over Toronto FC on Saturday, Aug. 20. Tonight’s match will be the first of three consecutive road games for the team.
- Defender Damion Lowe was named to the MLS Team of the Week presented by Audi for Week 26 of the 2022 regular season after his commanding defensive performance against Toronto. It was Lowe’s fourth Team of the Week designation of the season, the most among Inter Miami players in 2022. The club has had a representative, either player or coach, in the Team of the Week in 14 different weeks of the 2022 MLS regular season.
- Attacker Corentin Jean returns to a matchday squad for the first time since the game against FC Cincinnati on July 30. Defender Kieran Gibbs and winger Indiana Vassilev, meanwhile, return to the team’s starting XI for tonight’s match.
- The trip to Red Bull Arena will bring back fond memories for Higuaín, as the Argentine netted a stunning free kick to register his first Inter Miami goal and help the team his first Inter Miami goal and help the team seal its first win of his tenure with the club, claiming a 1-2 road win against the Red Bulls on Oct. 7, 2020.
- In addition to Higuaín, three other club players have scored against the Red Bulls in the past. Midfielder Alejandro Pozuelo has scored twice in seven appearances against the NYRB, while attackers Ariel Lassiter and Robert Taylor have a goal each in one appearance against the New York-based side.
- Forwards Higuaín and Leonardo Campana are tied for the most goals on the team with eight each so far in the 2022 regular season, while midfielder Bryce Duke is the top assist provider, with six this campaign. Additionally, Lassiter leads the team in winning goals, having recorded two so far this campaign.
- Defender Aimé Mabika returns to Red Bull Arena where he made his MLS debut in a road game against the Red Bulls on Oct. 9, 2021 after being signed on a short-term loan from Inter Miami CF II due to Extreme Hardship.
