Fort Lauderdale CF will return to DRV PNK Stadium to take on South Georgia Tormenta FC on Sunday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 pm. ET. This match will air live on ESPN+.
“We’re obviously familiar with Tormenta FC, they’re a good team, well coached, they have some really talented players on the team. For us it’s a matter of making sure we’re defensively sound first and foremost, and then turning our possession into good opportunities on goal,” said head coach Darren Powell.
Fort Lauderdale CF is looking to bounce back at home following a loss against the current USL League One league leaders, Union Omaha. Similarly, South Georgia Tormenta FC is coming off of a loss to Union Omaha.
This is the fourth and final match against Tormenta FC of the 2021 regular season. In their recent meetings, the South Florida squad defeated South Georgia 0-1 coming away with their first win of the season in April. In late August, Fort Lauderdale defeated Tormenta FC 2-4 on the road. In mid-September, Fort Lauderdale CF came away with one point in the 2-2 draw at home. Notably, forward Shaan Hundal has scored in two of the four matchups against Tormenta FC.
As the 2021 regular season nears its end, Sunday will mark Fort Lauderdale’s second-to-last home match of the campaign.
South Georgia Tormenta FC is currently eighth in USL League One table, recording eight wins, 12 losses and five draws for a total of 29 points.
