Inter Miami CF midfielder Federico Redondo and strikers Luis Suárez and Leonardo Campana have been named to the Team of the Matchday for Matchday 5 of the MLS regular season. The three players earned this honor after their exceptional performances against D.C. United in the 1-3 win this past Saturday.
Suárez secured his place in the Team of the Matchday starting XI after scoring two goals in the win at the Audi Field. The striker came into the game as a second-half substitute in the 62nd minute and tallied his first goal in the 72nd minute off of an assist from Campana, while his second came in the 85th minute to seal the 1-3 win on the road. Suárez has started five games and netted four goals for Inter Miami this 2024 regular season, while he leads the team in goals with six across all competitions.
Redondo was named a starter on the Team of the Matchday for the first time since joining the Club. The midfielder played the full 90 minutes and recorded his first Inter Miami assist on the goal that brought the team back into the match and tied the scoreline at 1-1. Redondo had an 86% accurate pass percentage and had an influential role in the victory at the country’s capital.
Campana stood out for his impressive performance once again in what was his second start this regular season and features in the Team of the Matchday for the first time this season. The Ecuadorian striker’s fantastic goal that tied the game 1-1 in the 24th minute after an assist from Redondo. Campana then capped off his stellar 75 minute performance with the assist to Suárez to give Inter Miami the lead. His goal and assist to Suárez’s first goal brought confidence to the team which led them to take dominance of the game and took his personal tally for the 2024 regular season to two goals and an assist.
